The Prather Group specializes in developing and using a suite of state-of-the-art instruments for probing atmospheric aerosols, obtaining immediate information on particle size, chemical composition, source, and climate properties.

Our ATOFMS instruments, developed by Prof. Kimberly Prather,  determine in real-time the chemical composition of individual particles as well as the size and optical properties.  Measurements from the ATOFMS are complemented by an array of commercial aerosol and gas phase instrumentation.

The mobile lab, developed with funding from the California Air Resources Board, allows us to take measurements all over the United States and world (Mexico City, Asia, India)
